Life Member Awards

Ilsa Neilsen (2024)

At the Gala Dinner held in conjunction with the 15th National Conference for Rural and Remote Allied Health, Ilsa Neilsen was awarded a SARRAH Honorary Life Membership. This rare and prestigious award recognises a person who makes an outstanding contribution to SARRAH through their leadership, guidance, personal time and cost to further the development, growth and sustainability of SARRAH.

In accepting the award, Ilsa says:

"Thank you to SARRAH for this unexpected honour. I would like to acknowledge and thank Cath, Lisa and the SARRAH Board and team for their work and the recognition they generously provided me at the conference. I have greatly valued my association with SARRAH over two decades and look forward to my new role as a Board Director.

"As we all know, in rural and remote health nothing is achieved in isolation. Across my career I have worked with inspirational, principled and generous leaders, and talented and thoughtful colleagues in QLD Health, JCU, GNARTN and SARRAH. This recognition reflects their support. It also reflects the collective efforts of many clinicians, managers, educators and students involved in rural generalist workforce development nationally and physiotherapy education in northern Qld. I am proud to represent their work and commitment to improving health services for rural and remote communities."

Congratulations Ilsa on this well-deserved recognition.
