About the 2018 SARRAH National Conference
The 13th SARRAH National Conference was hosted by the Darwin Convention Centre in Darwin Australia and ran from 12-14 September 2018.
SARRAH chose Darwin for the 2018 SARRAH National Conference 'Changing Landscapes, Changing Lives'. The conference provided a forum for the rural and remote allied health workforce, bureaucrats, educators and consumers to gather and explored change and its impact on health outcomes.
The modern healthcare landscape is undergoing massive and rapid changes that impact on both health professionals and the people who use the health system.
Changes are driven by people’s needs, technological development, research outcomes, workforce availability, political stances, policy frameworks and fiscal priorities. At the same time, health services in rural and remote areas are situated in ancient geographical landscapes that are ever changing as a result of human influence and natural events. The delivery of services by allied health professionals is underpinned by the drive to improve quality of life and quality of services.
