This evaluation explores the effectiveness of a Commonwealth-funded allied health scholarship scheme, active for a seven year period from 2010 until 2017, in regard to increasing the supply and retention of the rural and remote allied health workforce.

On Friday 28 February 2020, SARRAH hosted a forum at the University of Canberra, providing a rare opportunity for allied health practitioners to inform decision-makers about how access to effective and sustainable allied health services might be improved in rural and remote Australia.

As bushfires continue to burn in multiple states, the impact on those health professionals supporting affected communities may be starting to take its toll.  The health and wellbeing of allied health professionals is in the forefront of our minds. 

Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH) was commissioned by the New South Wales (NSW) Ministry of Health, Workforce Planning and Talent Development branch to develop a paper outlining evidence that answers the question: What strategies have been proven effective or ineffective for increasing the efficacy of allied health rural recruitment and retention in Australia?

Submission to the Senate Select Committee into the Obesity Epidemic in Australia This submission focuses on the role of allied health professionals in treating and managing the chronic diseases that are one of the results of overweight and obesity in rural and remote Australia. Welcome to our first update for 2017. As reported in our last update, SARRAH will allocate a reduced number of allied health scholarships for the 2017 academic year under the Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme (NAHSSS).
