Paediatric Speech Pathologist - Tamworth Community Health Service

Location: Tamworth Community Health Service
Salary: $65,778 - $95,298 Per Annum + Superannuation

You will provide high quality speech pathology service to families accessing assessment and therapy for paediatric communication and swallowing disorders. The position sits within the child and family allied health team, Tamworth Community Health Service and will join a team including Senior Speech Pathologists. You will work alongside other services within the child and family allied health team including but not exclusive to Aboriginal Health Workers, Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapist and social workers. The role includes delivery of assessment and intervention within a community setting, as well as in reach Tamworth Rural Referral Hospitals Children’s ward, maternity and special care nursery. Outreach is provided to Manilla and Barraba for Paediatrics, as well as proviso of adult inpatient swallowing assessments at these outreach sites. Provision of service in community is flexible and can involve offsite clinics, preschool visits and homevisting. You will work in a small speech team with two senior speech pathologists; and in partnership with professionals inclusive but not exclusive to Dietitians, Occupational therapists, physiotherapists,  psychologists, Paediatricians, midwifes, child and family and paediatric nurses, and Aboriginal Health Workers.   

The successful applicant will have access to clinical supervision with an experienced paediatric speech pathologist, fortnightly to monthly. They will also be supported to engage in shadowing opportunities at John Hunter Children’s Hospital. Clinical leadership and support will be obtained from the HNELHD Northern Profession Lead for Speech pathology, and includes attendance at quarterly Northern Sectors Speech Pathology Area Meetings for networking and education purposes. The position will be operationally managed by the Child and Family Allied Health Team Manager

The Level 1/2 Paediatric Speech Pathology position sits within the Child and Family Allied Health Team , Tamworth Community Health Service. The Child and Family Allied Health team is a large multidisciplinary team providing clinical services to children aged 0-17 years of age to Tamworth and surrounding areas. Tamworth is the central hub of North West NSW with a population of just under 60,000.
