What is ASGC-RA? |
| | ASGC-RA stands for Australian Standard Geographic Classification – Remoteness Area.
ASGC-RA (or RA for short) is the classification system used in NAHSSS: Allied Health Undergraduate to determine your rurality.
Only ASGC-RA 2 to 5 communities are eligible for scholarship support.
Go to www.doctorconnect.gov.au to check the ASGC-RA classification for any location within Australia, click the tab “Search the Map”, and type in your suburb.
In determining rurality for the NAHSSS Scholarship Scheme, the Australian Government acknowledges that universities within Tasmania and the Northern Territory do not provide oral health or most allied health courses. For the purpose of this scholarship program, all of the Northern Territory and Tasmania will be considered eligible.
Please note: As social work is offered at the University of Tasmania and the Charles Darwin University, students living in non-rural areas of Tasmania or the Northern Territory wishing to study these courses are not eligible to apply for a scholarship. |

How will the successful applicants be chosen? |
| | Submitted applications will be assessed against the eligibility criteria with scholarships offered only to eligible applicants.

(Failure to meet these criteria will result in the application being marked as ineligible).
Stage 2:
An order of merit will be established based on the eligibility criteria, and conditional scholarships offered according to this ranking.
SARRAH will advise all eligible applicants of the outcome of their application in writing.
Applicants who are awarded a conditional scholarship must return the signed acceptance form by the date advised in the letter. If an applicant fails to contact SARRAH by the stated date the conditional offer will be automatically revoked and offered to the next applicant in the order of merit.
If an applicant forfeits or declines a conditional offer, that place will be offered to the next applicant on the order of merit.
Stage 3:
Applicants who receive a conditional offer will need to provide certified copies of documentation to confirm the information provided on the application form including but not limited to;
Ø Australian Citizenship (Birth Certificate, Passport, Permanent Resident Status).
Ø Proof of rural address (for 5 to 8 years).
Ø ATO Assessment Notices (for applicant, and if applicable parental, and partner for last 2 financial years).
Ø Proof of Enrolment for 2013.
Ø Current Drivers License.

Once ATO Assessment Notices have been received and if there is a discrepancy between the estimated income and ATO Assessment Notices, the application will be re ranked and the scholarship may be withdrawn.
Please Note:

· The order of merit is valid for that year’s application round only. Unsuccessful applicants can reapply in future years.
· Applications received outside of the advertised application periods will not be considered.
