About Rurality
Selection of scholarship recipients is based on the assessment and selection process. Please note that applications are invited from across Australia; however, rurality and other criteria may be used as ranking tools where scholarship places are oversubscribed.
For the purposes of the scholarship selection process ‘rural/remote’ will be measured by the Australian Standard Classification Remoteness Areas (ASGC-RA).
All of the Northern Territory and Tasmania are considered to be eligible and equivalent to at least ASGC-RA 3.
To be eligible for the NAHSSS: Allied Health Clinical Placement Scholarship you will need to schedule your clinical placement in a rural and remote classified by ASGC-RA as being level 2-5.
| Category | ASGC-RA |
| Major City | 1 |
| Inner Regional | 2 |
| Outer Regional | 3 |
| Remote | 4 |
| Very Remote | 5 |
If you are unsure of the ASGC-RA classification of your Clinical Placement location, you can check http://www.doctorconnect.gov.au by both location name and postcode.
